What Yantian actually is

Yantian port, the bay and surrounding mountains seen from above

Yantian is Shenzhen’s eastern coastal district, covering 74.75 km², with 216,900 permanent residents at the end of 2024. Mountains, sea, established neighbourhoods and a working container port sit close together.

Its roughly 30 km coastline and coastal boardwalk connect different seaside experiences. Shatoujiao’s everyday streets, port-side communities and the beaches of Dameisha and Xiaomeisha each offer a different daily rhythm.

  • Metro: Yantian Port West / Yantian Road · Line 8
  • Atmosphere: Working port, practical daily life
Quick area notes

Use the exact office, terminal gate or residential compound when checking the route. Port terminals are working facilities, not public visitor attractions. Check evening noise and the last stretch on foot.

  • Compromis : Popular weekends can bring crowds and busy roads.
  • Metro: Dameisha · Line 8
  • Atmosphere: Lively, coastal, visitor-friendly
Quick area notes

Pair a beach visit with a stroll and a meal nearby. Check the park’s current admission, swimming and reservation notices. For a home, repeat the journey on both a weekday and a busy weekend.

Mountain ridges and the view from the peak of Wutong Mountain

Wutong Mountain South

梧桐山南 · nearby gateway

  • Idéal pour : A mountain-side base and access towards forest walks.
  • Compromis : This nearby station gateway is in Liantang, Luohu.
  • Metro: Wutong Mountain South · Line 2
  • Atmosphere: Green surroundings, exact entrance matters
Quick area notes

This is a nearby gateway on the Luohu side, rather than a Yantian subdistrict. Choose the trail entrance first: the station name alone does not identify a mountain trailhead. Check closures, daylight and the return route.

Reviewed 1 November 2026. Yantian’s official profile gives the district area and end-2024 resident population. The district tourism overview describes roughly 30 km of coastline. The 2026 coastal cycling report gives the 19.5 km Guta Park–Beizaijiao corridor. Walking and cycling access can differ by section: follow local signs.

Area groups and preference results are editorial starting points. Confirm school admissions, rent, trail entrances, beach tickets, port access and the full door-to-door journey for your own plans. Wutong Mountain South is a nearby Luohu gateway, not a Yantian subdistrict.
