Neighbourhoods for food & an evening out
Places where dinner can turn into a longer wander without crossing the city again.
- Sea World海上世界
Details & planning
A plaza built around the Minghua, a French-built liner beached here in the 1980s and kept rather than scrapped. On a Friday night it is western Shenzhen’s village green; go on a Tuesday if you want to hear yourself think. The Shekou restaurants page has the eating.
- COCO Park, Futian
Details & planning
The CBD’s standing answer to “where shall we meet”. Shops by day, late bars at the eastern end after work. From about nine on a Friday it is one of the busiest nightlife blocks in the city; on a Tuesday it is nothing at all.
- MixC World万象天地
Details & planning
Nanshan eating is mall eating and the malls are good; this is the pleasant one to walk, laid out as an open-air street rather than a sealed box. Search the Chinese name in Dianping or Amap — English names send you to the wrong branch.
Drinks with a city view
Read the local notes and confirm access with the venue before heading upstairs.
- The bar at KK100京基100
Details & planning
The tallest building in the city until Ping An passed it. Forget observation tickets and buy a drink upstairs: same view, better chair. Budget accordingly — a domestic draft in a local place runs ¥5–25 and an expat-bar pint ¥30–60, with craft or imported beer ¥45–70; a room with this view sits above all of them. Broad estimates as of August 2026.
- One Shenzhen Bay, upper floors
Details & planning
The best sunset in the city, facing the water beside Talent Park. Book a window table and go early enough to watch the light change over the bay. Reckon on roughly ¥100–300 a head for food, and more once drinks are involved — estimates as of August 2026.
