A short playground visit, an indoor discovery session or a bigger family adventure: start with your child’s interests and the journey, not the longest attraction list. These eight ideas mix everyday outings with snow, theme parks and the coast.
- Shenzhen Children’s Park深圳市儿童公园
Details & planning
Sand play, climbing and the much-loved elephant slide. The August 2026 reopening notice announced trial operation from 16 August with only some facilities open. Check which areas are operating before promising a particular ride. This is the Luohu park, not Children’s Paradise in Futian.

A rainy-day option with nature, city role-play and sensory activities in the Children’s Exploration Hall, plus a Picture Book Museum in the same building. See the official venue introduction; check current tickets, sessions and activity bookings through 深圳妇儿大厦 before visiting. Do not assume all spaces share one ticket.

Robots, interactive technology and space exhibits for children who enjoy finding out how things work. The museum’s official visitor Q&A explains the metro connection and ticketed galleries. Plan this as the main outing; check admission documents, exhibition tickets and film sessions in the 深圳科学技术馆 mini-program before the journey.
- Qianhai Snow World (Huafa Snow)前海冰雪世界

Yes, Shenzhen has a proper indoor ski centre: five slopes, lessons for ski and snowboard, and snow play for children who do not need a black run before lunch. Use the skiing guide and lesson calculator, then confirm your date in the Huafa Snow mini-program.
- Happy Valley欢乐谷

The one that still works for children, and the only park in the cluster I would give a whole day. At weekends the queues are the experience.
- Window of the World世界之窗

Shenzhen’s oldest tourist set-piece and comfortably its most dated. I still send first-time visitors with children, because it is easy to reach and easy to leave. Splendid China and OCT Harbour are the same proposition — check what is open first.
- Sea World海上世界

A plaza built around the Minghua, a French-built liner beached here in the 1980s and kept rather than scrapped. On a Friday night it is western Shenzhen’s village green; go on a Tuesday if you want to hear yourself think. The Shekou restaurants page has the eating.
- Dameisha and the eastern beaches

Where Shenzhen goes to the sea properly, and where the city’s beach-resort hotels are — see the hotels page. An hour each way in summer traffic for a crowded beach is a poor trade; a pleasure if you stay the night.
Practical planning guide
Keep the day manageable. For younger children, start with one play area or a picture-book session and leave room for lunch and a nap. For school-age children interested in science, make the Guangming museum the day’s main destination. These are planning suggestions, not venue age rules.
Before you leave. Confirm reservations, adult and child tickets, accepted ID, and any age or height limits. Check toilet and buggy access if you need them. Choose a cooler part of the day for outdoor play and keep an indoor backup for heat or rain. Our family activities guide has more help with routines, budgets and planning.

- Talent Park人才公园
Details & planning
A lagoon with a lit path round it and a Möbius-strip footbridge across the middle — the default evening run for half of Houhai. Small and not remotely wild, but pleasant on a warm evening.
- OH Bay and Haibin Culture Park欢乐港湾
Details & planning
The Bao’an waterfront: lawns, a canal, restaurants and the Bay Glory ferris wheel. Cabin tiers, prices and hours change — read the current listing before queueing. The evening light-and-water show runs to a schedule, and not in bad weather.
- Fairy Lake Botanical Garden仙湖植物园
Details & planning
The gentle half of the same corner of the city, and the right answer when somebody does not want a thousand metres of stairs. The official garden site lists free-entry windows from 06:00–08:00 and 18:00–21:30; parking reservations and weather closures are separate from pedestrian admission. Pair it with Donghu Park and the reservoir.
