Hotel sources checked 18 October 2026. Rates vary by dates, room, guests and cancellation terms. Check the full RMB total, taxes, breakfast and deposits with the property. Hotel parking, road permission and beach/activity entry are separate arrangements.

Bringing your car to Dapeng

Six steps for a mainland private-car trip. Check road permission, parking and venue entry separately.

  1. Save the exact destination

Keep the Chinese hotel or beach name and the permitted vehicle entrance. 西涌 beach and 溪涌 Metro are different places. Ask your host for the car-park gate, not just a map pin.

  2. Check your date and route

Read the latest Shenzhen Traffic Police notice before leaving. The published 2026 seasonal booking period ended 7 October; temporary roadworks or other controls can still apply.

  3. Reserve only when required

If a current notice requires booking: open verified 深圳交警 or 深圳交警权威发布 in WeChat → 预约通行 → 大鹏半岛. Follow the current form, check the date/arrival window and retain the confirmation.

  4. Confirm parking separately

Ask about the vehicle gate, space arrangements, fee, overnight/re-entry terms, height and charging if needed. A hotel room or road reservation does not automatically include parking or a beach ticket.

  5. Plan the final walk or transfer

Use permitted parking and follow signs. Do not assume you can drive up to Luzui or the Observatory. Confirm the open walk, authorised cart or local connection and the return.

  6. Recheck before heading back

Check weather warnings, diversions and the car-park exit. Leave room for coastal traffic. If driving through the city, check any plate/date restrictions that apply to your journey.

Source check: 18 October 2026. Use the official service for vehicle details; this guide does not collect your plate or make a reservation.

Surfing & outdoor activities: prices and locations

Choose a place and a package. Beach admission, lessons, equipment and transport can be separate charges.

Surf lesson at Dongchong

Dongchong beach · 东涌沙滩, Nan’ao

Quote required · advertised ¥460 / 90-min class

RISE Travel’s lesson listing shows ¥460 in its offer and ¥450 in the introduction. Ask for the current written total and class size before paying.

What to confirm

Confirm board, coach, clothing, beach entry, photography and the weather-cancellation terms. Meet at the entrance confirmed by the operator.

Surfing at Xichong

Xichong beach · 西涌; confirm the permitted surf entrance

Beach entry example: from ¥28 / adult

Qunar lists adult single entry from ¥28 and one-day re-entry from ¥35. These are beach tickets, not surf lessons or board hire, and no visit date was selected.

What to confirm

Ask a surf operator for lesson or board-hire prices separately. Confirm the activity zone, duration and conditions for your day.

SUP / paddle lessons

Dongchong · 东涌; operator meeting point varies

Ask for a written package price

Dongchong has listed surf and paddle-sport operators. Request a current quote for the chosen activity, group and duration; no dependable public hire tariff was established.

What to confirm

Compare coaching, equipment, flotation aid, beach admission, deposits and cancellation. Confirm the operator’s exact meeting point.

Yangmeikeng & Luzui coast

Yangmeikeng · 杨梅坑 → Luzui · 鹿嘴, Nan’ao

Confirm gate & sightseeing-cart charges

Build a coastal walk around the current managed access. No current cart fare or complete access package is quoted here.

What to confirm

Private cars cannot be assumed to reach the viewpoint. Check the open walking section, return arrangements and posted conditions.

Geopark museum & landscape

1 Geopark Road · 地质公园路1号, Xinda, Nan’ao

¥0 museum admission

The municipal safety-education directory states free entry without reservation. Check the museum’s current opening notice for your day.

What to confirm

Transport and parking are separate. Museum access does not establish that mountain trails are open.

Observatory & public boardwalk

Xichong · 西涌, Nan’ao; plan the uphill approach

¥0 visit · separate access arrangements

The controlled Observatory visit is free but needs its own reservation. A separate public boardwalk section is free without that reservation.

What to confirm

Beach entry, parking and any transfer are separate. Check current access and weather; a reservation does not include a beach ticket.

Before paying for a water activity

Confirm the instructor-to-student ratio, duration, board/equipment, changing facilities, beach ticket, deposit and cancellation/refund terms. Agree the permitted activity area and day’s conditions with the operator.

Price-source check: 18 October 2026. Online prices are published examples without a selected visit date, not live quotes or confirmed availability. Free admission excludes travel, parking and optional paid services. Use the linked source for your exact date and package.

Area reference notes on this pageThe six complete area guides are linked in Areas in depth above.

Explore Dapeng, area by area

Six places to get to know. Choose a base, then plan the smaller journeys around it.

Kuichong, Dapeng and Nan’ao are the three subdistricts. The six map clusters below are practical browsing areas, with different reasons to visit or stay.

Town services & wetland walks

Kuichong 葵涌

Start here for the mainland-facing part of Dapeng. Separate a practical visit to Kuichong town from an outing to Baguang: the wetland is a destination in its own right, rather than a stop on the southern beach circuit.

Best for: Everyday errands, an ecology outing and comparing a town base.

What to do here

  • Baguang Silver-leaf Tree Wetland Park combines old silver-leaf trees, wetland scenery and the Yanzao village setting.
  • For a possible move, walk the groceries-to-home route and check the actual bus stop, pharmacy and building entrance.

Getting there & around

Search for the wetland park or your town address separately. Check the last useful connection before setting off for Baguang; follow protected-area signs on arrival.

The trade-off: A Kuichong address does not put the whole peninsula within walking distance. Test onward journeys before choosing it for a beach holiday or a weekday commute.

A practical base for daily life

Dapeng town 大鹏中心

Use this cluster for the town centre and its everyday streets. Dapeng town, Dapeng Fortress and Jiaochangwei beach are different destinations: a listing described simply as “Dapeng” does not tell you which one you will be staying beside.

Best for: Town errands, a working-day trial and a base for separate outings.

What to do here

  • Map your exact home or hotel first, then identify groceries, meals and the connection you will actually use.
  • Give the fortress and Jiaochangwei their own visit. Do not book a town-centre room assuming that it is a beach-front stay.

Getting there & around

For town services, use a precise destination such as Dapeng Subdistrict Office on Zhongshan Road. For leisure, change the destination to the actual fortress, beach entrance or hotel.

The trade-off: A practical town base and a quiet holiday retreat are different priorities. Visit the street at your normal arrival time and compare the full door-to-door journey.

Guesthouse lanes, shore & fortress

Jiaochangwei 较场尾

Choose Jiaochangwei for a first visit that combines a beach-village atmosphere with the neighbouring Dapeng Fortress. The guesthouse lanes and the historic settlement offer different experiences, so leave time for both rather than treating the whole area as one beach stop.

Best for: A fortress-and-shore day, cafés and a small guesthouse stay.

What to do here

  • Pair the fortress lanes with a shore-side break at Jiaochangwei; check individual museum or exhibition access separately.
  • Choose the guesthouse by its exact lane, room and noise conditions, rather than by a photograph of the beach.

Getting there & around

Navigate to your booked property or chosen entrance, then confirm the walk from the parking or drop-off point. Keep the fortress entrance distinct from the beach access.

The trade-off: Do not assume a quiet evening or parking at the door. Ask about late-night noise, luggage access and cancellation terms before paying.

Fishing heritage & waterfront meals

Nan’ao town 南澳

Nan’ao town offers a working waterfront and a useful place to pause before travelling farther down the peninsula. Its fishing-community identity is visible around Shuangyong Wharf. A town visit can be enjoyable without adding an outer beach to the same day.

Best for: A waterfront meal, local atmosphere and a town-based overnight stay.

What to do here

  • Use Shuangyong Wharf as an orientation point for a town-waterfront visit; respect working areas and posted access.
  • For seafood, agree the item, weight, price and cooking charge before ordering. Choose a restaurant near your next transport connection.

Getting there & around

Map the wharf, hotel or restaurant itself. Yangmeikeng and Xichong are onward trips from town, not stops on a short waterfront walk.

The trade-off: Fishing boats and harbour views do not make a swimming beach. Check the exact waterfront setting and the return journey before booking a stay.

Coastal scenery & the route towards Luzui

Yangmeikeng 杨梅坑

Come for the mountain-and-sea setting between Qiniangshan and Daya Bay. Yangmeikeng is the starting area for a coast-focused outing towards Luzui, where viewpoints and coastal paths have their own access arrangements. Make the scenery the main plan for the day.

Best for: Coastal views, photography and a deliberately unhurried outing.

What to do here

  • Choose the Yangmeikeng waterfront or a specific Luzui destination before deciding how far to continue.
  • Compare walking and any authorised local transport at the access point; confirm the return as well as the outward trip.

Getting there & around

Navigate to the confirmed Yangmeikeng parking or drop-off point. Do not assume that a hotel booking, private car or map route permits you to drive through to Luzui.

The trade-off: The onward coast takes time. Check weather, open paths, local transport charges and the last return before leaving the arrival area.

Beach time, surf & an overnight escape

Xichong beach 西涌

Choose this southern-peninsula cluster when the beach is the main reason for your trip. Send drivers the Chinese name 西涌 and the exact entrance or accommodation. 溪涌, also written Xichong in English, is the Metro gateway farther west and is a different place.

Best for: A beach-centred day, a surf lesson or a stay near your chosen entrance.

What to do here

  • Book a surf lesson around the permitted activity area and the day’s conditions; check equipment, instruction, beach admission and refunds separately.
  • For Observatory plans, distinguish the controlled visit that needs booking from the separate public boardwalk. Check current access before travelling.

Getting there & around

Confirm the beach entrance, parking, final walk and last useful return connection. An Observatory reservation does not replace beach admission.

The trade-off: Allow for the road transfer and weather changes. Use the current price-source dates below; published examples do not guarantee a lesson, room or safe sea conditions.

Before you head further out

Do I need a driving reservation?

The published 2026 seasonal period was 1 May–7 October on weekends and public holidays. It has ended as of this guide’s 18 October check. Check the latest Traffic Police notice for your date; venue access and parking are separate.

Is the Observatory boardwalk all reservation-only?

The controlled Observatory visit requires its own reservation. A separate public boardwalk section does not use that reservation. Check current access, weather and beach arrangements separately.
