Malls

Garden City is my favorite mall in the area—easy to reach, comfortable to spend time in, and useful for shopping, food, books, and everyday errands.

The renovated Garden City shopping mall in Shekou

GARDEN CITY · 花园城

My favorite mall in Shekou.

The established Shekou Garden City on Nanhai Avenue combines a long neighborhood history with a brighter, garden-inspired redesign.

  • Address & metro

No. 1080 Nanhai Avenue, Nanshan District. The mall sits directly above Exit D of Sihai Station on Metro Line 12.

  • History & scale

Opened in 2006 as Nanshan District’s first one-stop shopping center, with a gross floor area of nearly 100,000 m².

  • The new Garden City

After a major 1.5-year renovation led by Aedas, the mall reopened in January 2024 with more than 180 shops and a new “Urban Life Art Theater” identity.

  • Three garden zones

Dreamy Flower Valley welcomes visitors at the entrance, Sunlight Mountains anchors the center with a new ice rink, and Secret Realm Lake adds a colorful wave-like staircase at the south entrance.

  • Shopping

Key names include Decathlon, Shundian, Uniqlo, Apple, Samsung, Starbucks Reserve, Manner, Heytea, and Naixue.

  • Food & books

Dining ranges from Tai Er, Tan Yu, and Xiang La La to newer Shenzhen-first concepts. Mi Bookstore is a highlight for books, stationery, cultural goods, and naturally lit reading space.

  • 2024 performance

In its first year after reopening, the mall reported nearly RMB 1.4 billion in sales and around 20 million visits.

  • Do not confuse the two

This is Shekou Garden City Center on Nanhai Avenue—not Prince Bay Garden City, the newer seaside commercial district near the cruise terminal.

  • Drinks

The bar moves from classics such as Old Fashioneds and Margaritas to signature house cocktails.

  • Food

Popular choices include the cheese-and-wagyu burger, Spanish garlic-shrimp tacos, and creamy mushroom pasta.
